Although the process for developing a location-based service application is similar to that used for any mobile device, it is likely to include additional steps.  LBS applications typically require periodic data updates based on position information.  From map data to new POI (points of interest), LBS applications are likely to require frequent access to server resources.  Because of these specific requirements, developers may need to emphasize providing efficient and flexible data communications as service users move from one area to another.
