Team Lead & J2ME Developer

Key Responsibilities:

Team Lead Responsibilities

  • Supervises and leads a team of 4 to 8 Server Software Engineers.
  • Responsible for activities of the team including task assignment, priority, and status reporting.
  • Responsible for the knowledge transfer and mentoring progress of team members.
  • Participates in project planning meetings and is responsible for project estimation and proposing resource assignments.
  • Works with Project Managers to provide direct updates and Project Insight.
  • Directs weekly team meetings.  Reports consolidated team status to Engineering Manager.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Evaluates new technologies, tools and writes reports to justify their use or non-use.
  • Works with Software Architect to evaluate high level designs and architectures.
  • Codes high-level frameworks and hands off detailed coding to team members
  • Codes non-critical path features not to affect project schedules.
  • Acts as the technical “go-to-person” for team members.
  • Must have hands-on Client development skills as listed below technical qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years hands-on development experience in a commercial software development environment using C / C++ or Java.
  • Experience required in one of the following mobile platforms:  J2ME, BREW, or Windows Mobile.
  • Experience with all phases of product development lifecycle, including requirements definition, specifications, development, test, product release, and sustaining engineering.
  • Proficiency with Object-Oriented design methodology.
  • Experience in programming dynamic and advanced graphics mobile applications
  • (i.e., Windows GUI applications).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-managed proactive work style.  Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.  Able to work independently and in a team environment. 
  • Desire to engage in extremely challenging assignments.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related discipline.
